On October 19, Public Affairs Officer, Erik Holm-Olsen attended the opening ceremony of the poster show exhibit "Abraham Lincoln: Portrait of a President", that took place at the Rio de Janeiro UniverCidade main campus Library.
Received by Professor André Varella, director of UniverCidade's International Relation Department. In addition to offering remarks on President Lincoln's life and legacy, Mr. Holm-Olsen included his contributions to the end of slavery, the civil rights movement, and even the election of President Barack Obama. In his comments, Mr. Holm-Olsen also referred to the work of Joaquim Nabuco, who served as Brazil's Ambassador to the United States, and who was a leader of the Brazilian abolition movement. Next year will mark 100 years since Nabuco's death.
